Alumni Demand Full Investigation
By Adesina Wahab

Tragedy struck Union Bank PLC as one of its senior officials, Muhammed Suleiman, was killed barely three weeks after being elevated to the post of Regional Manager.

Suleiman was fatally shot on August 4 while traveling from Kaduna to Katsina for official duties. The exact circumstances of the incident remain uncertain.

His former classmates under the Federal Government College Kaduna Old Students Association (FEGOKOSA) have now urged the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tunji Egbetokun, to launch a thorough investigation into the killing.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Friday, FEGOKOSA President, Mr. Seyi Gambo, rejected the simple explanation that bandits were behind the attack. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability. Present with him were the association’s secretary, Ms. Binta Mora, Uchenna Orazulike Nnoli, Global President of Federal Government College Ugwolawo Alumni, and a member identified as Williams.

Gambo stressed that insecurity must not be normalized in Nigeria, saying:

“Security must be at the top of our priorities as a nation. Without safety, there can be no meaningful development in education, business, or nation-building. A threat in any part of Nigeria should concern us all. The pain of one community must be felt by every Nigerian.”

He further urged the police to keep Suleiman’s family, colleagues, and the general public informed of progress in the case. He also called on the federal government, security agencies, corporate bodies, and citizens to take collective action in restoring peace and stability across the country.
